What do you like most about working for Seaboard Overseas and Trading Group?

The qualities that drew me to SOTG are the reasons I stay and why I enjoy my job. SOTG works in a variety of industries—milling, animal raising, commodity trading, etc. and since starting with Seaboard I have had three jobs. With the travel, variety of responsibilities, and knowledgeable people I’ve worked with in SOTG, I always have something interesting on my plate. I have always been made to feel that my contributions are valuable and that SOTG wants to invest in my future.

How would you describe the company culture?

SOTG employs a diverse workforce, and our culture values respect for each other and the communities in which we operate. We are fortunate to be a significant food resource for many regions worldwide, and it is a responsibility that SOTG understands and respects. I proved myself to be very capable, reliable and responsible and secured myself a position as a Quality Controller from September 2011 to May 2012. Being a self-motivated and innovative person who thrives in challenging tasks and never hesitates to take over responsibilities whenever the opportunity avails, I was elevated to become the Quality Assurance Supervisor from June 1st, 2012 to January 31st, 2015. I was promoted to my current position of Quality Control Manager on February 1st, 2016. I am aspiring to become the Group Quality Control Executive for Seaboard Overseas and Trading Group in the future.

What do you enjoy most about working for Bolux Group?

I would say the company’s overall reputation drew me in the milling industry for the past eight years and Bolux Group has always been the trusted and respected world class Botswana Company supplying the market with quality products of choice. I have had a few friends and family members who either worked here or with the business and they have always raved about the atmosphere of professionalism. It inspires me to be in a place that continually demands excellence while still allowing a healthy and positive work environment. Bolux Group is also a company that invests in its employees by impacting them with knowledge and equipping them with relevant information. Having started working in this company at a tender age and as a woman I have seen myself improving and becoming empowered every day, this is because of the learning environment that Bolux provides for its employees.

What do you enjoy most about working for Bolux Group?

I enjoy the depth and complexity of the issues we grapple with on a day-to-day basis. Working for Bolux Group is far better than attending MBA classes. Most of the business scenarios that are taught in business schools play out here, and I’ve been fortunate enough to experience them first hand. Botswana is also my home country, and it is a very peaceful country to reside in.

In January 1998 I went to Ecuador and started a bakery in Ibarra, a city 120km North of Quito. Being a Dutch baker my specialty was Whole grain and multi-cereal bread and within 2 years I turned into the biggest client of Whole Grain Flour In Ibarra of Moderna Alimentos. This caught their attention because Moderna Alimentos is known for its innovation and nutritional products. At that time the bakery of Moderna was searching for a production manager and in October 2000 I accepted the challenge of taking care of the production of the bakery in Quito.

What surprised you most about your position or Moderna?

The great atmosphere at our location, people are open-minded and are always willing to generate new ideas and projects.”

What are your current responsibilities?

My current task is Research and Development and Technical Assistance for our bakery plant in Quito.

What do you enjoy most about working for Seaboard or Location?

My passion is bread and everything that has to do with it, I enjoy being able to use my experience and knowhow for every new product we design and working with all of the teams in our organization to realize our projects.

What’s your favorite story/memory about working for Seaboard or Location?

My favorite memory is spending one week for a bakery course at the San Francisco Baking Institute with bakers and millers from all over South America. Our instructor was Didier Rosado who is one of the world’s best and most passionate bakers and who turned in a good friend.

What surprised you most about the job or its location?

The great work atmosphere at our location, people are open minded and always ready and willing to realize new ideas and projects.

Who is someone that inspires you and why?

Neil Young, for being a great singer songwriter and guitar player, always true to himself and his art in spite of the critics, for never getting old and being a great human being concerned with people and environment.

How do you spend your free time? What do you like to do in the city where you live?

I like to build and create things, (wood-fired ovens, chimneys, furniture, speakers, aquaponics systems etc.), being in nature, cooking, reading, music and most of all spend quality time with my family.

What is your hidden talent? Or something most people don’t know about you?

I play guitar, although not very good…….
